BIMUN MODEL
The Boston International Model United Nations (BIMUN) is an educational model of the United Nations, in which students assume the role of international diplomats to debate and propose solutions to current global issues in various multilateral committees.
This year, the model revolves around a deeply relevant theme: “The influence of education on young people who do not want to be educated.”
This reflection acknowledges the current challenges facing the global education system: the lack of motivation among many young people toward traditional learning models, the impact of technology on attention and discipline, and the disconnect between formal education and the personal or professional aspirations of the younger generations, highlighting through diplomatic debate the hemispheric repercussions of this problem.
BIMUN invites its participants to analyze how education systems can adapt to modern times, promote critical thinking, generate real opportunities for development, and contribute to shaping a generation that, rather than resisting learning, becomes a protagonist of global change.
How will it be carried out?
BIMUN creates an educational ecosystem that develops well-rounded students with high-level diplomatic skills. With our slogan “Learn. Lead. Succeed,” this model forges leaders through mastery of three fundamental pillars: diplomacy as the art of constructive negotiation, debate as a tool for critical analysis, and active participation as a driving force for the formulation of compelling and categorical arguments.
BIMUN's educational scope encompasses the development of communication skills, where students learn to articulate complex positions with clarity and persuasion; advanced competencies that enable them to break down global issues and propose viable solutions; and interpersonal skills that facilitate consensus building between divergent perspectives.
This model cultivates the emotional intelligence necessary for effective diplomacy, teaching students to maintain composure under pressure, actively listen to opposing positions, and find common ground amid dissent.
